PlanLegit is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We provide self-help legal forms, document-assembly software, and educational resources. No attorney-client relationship is created through your use of the platform, and you are representing yourself in any legal matter you undertake.

Any fee charged for use of this platform is an administrative fee for access to the software and related support — not a fee for legal services.

These Terms contain a binding arbitration provision and a class-action waiver in Section 19 that affect how disputes are resolved. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and PlanLegit ("PlanLegit," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the PlanLegit website, software platform, document-assembly tools, document vault, and related support (together, the "Platform").

By creating an account, purchasing access, or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. What PlanLegit is — and is not

PlanLegit is a self-help estate planning platform. It gives you:

  • A guided series of plain-language questions about your family, your assets, and your wishes;
  • Document-assembly software that populates Attorney Approved Document Forms with the answers you provide;
  • Estate planning documents available in all 50 states;
  • A secure vault in which to store and share your completed documents;
  • Educational resources, and general guidance on how to use the Platform.

PlanLegit is not a law firm, a lawyer referral service, a substitute for an attorney, a fiduciary, a trustee, an accountant, or a tax advisor. We do not practice law. We do not select documents for you, decide what is best for your situation, interpret the law as it applies to you, or represent you in any matter.

Third-party software provider

PlanLegit markets, coordinates access to, and supports a self-help estate planning software platform made available through a third-party software provider. That provider supplies or hosts portions of the document-assembly technology, account tools, template library, and vault infrastructure. We do not publicly identify the provider on this site. Your use of the Platform may require you to accept additional software terms presented inside the account experience, and those terms may govern features that the provider controls.

Because portions of the Platform are provided by third parties, PlanLegit does not control every software feature, question flow, template update, security setting, hosting environment, or service interruption. We remain responsible for our own marketing, Coordinator training, customer support, and communications, but we are not responsible for failures, changes, or omissions caused by third-party systems outside our control.

3. No legal advice, no attorney-client relationship

The Platform provides self-help legal forms and related educational resources. It does not provide legal advice and is not a law firm. No attorney-client relationship is created through your use of the Platform, and no communication you have with us, with a Legit Coordinator, or through the Platform is protected by attorney-client privilege or by any attorney work-product protection.

You are representing yourself in any legal matter you undertake. The information and tools provided are for general educational purposes only and may not address your specific situation. Estate, trust, property, and tax laws vary by state and change over time.

If you need legal or tax advice tailored to your circumstances — including if your situation involves a blended family, a special-needs beneficiary, business ownership, property in multiple states or countries, a taxable estate, an existing dispute, an irrevocable trust, or any question about capacity or undue influence — you should consult with a licensed attorney or qualified tax advisor in your jurisdiction.

State-specific unauthorized-practice-of-law notices

Estate planning and unauthorized-practice-of-law rules vary by state. PlanLegit is available in all 50 states as a self-help software platform, but availability does not mean the Platform, a Coordinator, or any representative may perform services that only a licensed attorney may perform in your state.

In every state, you are responsible for deciding whether a form, provision, signing method, witness, notary, fiduciary choice, beneficiary designation, or funding step is appropriate for your circumstances. If your state requires attorney involvement for a particular act, document, transfer, or interpretation, you are responsible for obtaining that attorney help. We may decline, limit, or stop support when a question requires legal judgment or would risk the unauthorized practice of law.

4. The role of a Legit Coordinator

A "Legit Coordinator" is a trained non-attorney who may be made available to help you use the Platform. A Coordinator's role is strictly limited to education and platform guidance.

A Coordinator may:

  • Explain how the Platform works and what each screen or question is asking;
  • Define general estate planning terms and explain, in general educational terms, how commonly used documents function;
  • Help you navigate the software, keep track of your progress, and answer questions about the process;
  • Direct you to educational resources and to the Platform's own guidance;
  • Help you organize information and, where applicable, assist with the administrative steps of funding.

A Coordinator may not:

  • Select which documents, products, provisions, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, tax elections, or funding strategies you should use or buy;
  • Review your information for legal sufficiency, propriety, completeness, accuracy, spelling, grammar, or consistency;
  • Give legal advice, recommendations, opinions, or strategies about your legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, documents, or forms;
  • Apply the law to your facts, answers, family situation, property, state, or goals;
  • Tell you whether your answers are legally appropriate or whether a document will accomplish your intended result;
  • Draft, alter, edit, revise, interpret, or review legal language or legal documents on your behalf;
  • Answer questions about how to use the software when the answer would require legal judgment, beyond non-legal technical or navigation help;
  • Provide tax, investment, accounting, insurance, or financial advice through the PlanLegit software relationship;
  • Represent you before any court, agency, financial institution, recorder, insurer, or third party;
  • Create an attorney-client relationship or imply that any attorney represents you through the Platform.

Every decision about your plan is yours. If a Coordinator ever appears to you to be giving legal advice, you should not rely on it, and you should tell us at [email protected].

5. Eligibility

To use the Platform you must be at least 18 years old, be a resident of the United States, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, and be creating documents for yourself (or jointly with your spouse, domestic partner, or civil union partner where the Platform permits a joint plan). You may not use the Platform to create documents for another person, and you may not use it on behalf of someone who lacks capacity.

6. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration information, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your password. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe has been compromised, or that is being used in violation of these Terms.

7. Fees, billing, and renewals

Every fee charged for use of the Platform is an administrative fee for access to the software and related support, not a fee for legal services.

  • Legit Will — $750. A one-time administrative fee.
  • Legit Trust — $2,495. A one-time flat administrative fee that includes online account access — your document vault, 24/7 access, and unlimited updates, changes, and restatements.

There is no annual fee, renewal fee, or subscription charge for clients. Your account access and your ability to make updates are included in the one-time fee you paid. We will not charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

Prices are in U.S. dollars, are exclusive of any applicable taxes, and may change at any time for future purchases. The price shown at checkout is the price that applies to your purchase.

Payment plans, where offered, are described at checkout. If you are on a payment plan, you authorize us to charge the scheduled installments to the payment method on file until the balance is paid.

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store your full payment card number. You authorize us and our processors to charge the payment method you provide for all amounts due.

8. Refunds and cancellation

All Trust and Will package purchases are final once login credentials have been issued to you by email. After credentials are issued, no refunds or cancellations will be provided, except where required by applicable law.

You are responsible for scheduling and completing your document creation meeting and, for a trust package, your trust funding meeting. Failure to schedule or complete the applicable meetings does not qualify you for a refund or cancellation.

If you have a billing concern before credentials are issued, contact [email protected]. Nothing in this section limits non-waivable consumer rights or remedies under applicable law.

9. Your responsibilities

The Platform assembles documents from the information you supply. You are solely responsible for:

  • Providing complete, accurate, and current information, including names, relationships, asset descriptions, and beneficiary designations;
  • Reading and reviewing every document in full before you sign it, and confirming that it reflects your intentions;
  • Deciding which documents and provisions are appropriate for you, and seeking independent legal or tax advice if you are unsure;
  • Properly executing your documents (see Section 10);
  • Funding your trust, if you create one (see Section 11);
  • Keeping your plan current after life events such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption, a death in the family, a significant change in assets, or a move to another state;
  • Storing your signed originals safely and telling the people who need to know where they are.

Errors, omissions, or outdated information in what you provide will be reflected in your documents. We do not verify the accuracy of the information you enter.

10. Signing, witnessing, and notarizing

A document assembled through the Platform generally has no legal effect until it is properly executed under the law of your state. Execution requirements — who may sign, how many witnesses are required, who may serve as a witness, and whether notarization is required — vary by state and by document type.

The Platform provides general instructions for signing, witnessing, and notarizing in your state as an educational resource. You are responsible for following the requirements that apply to you. We do not witness or notarize your documents and we do not confirm that you have executed them correctly.

11. Funding a trust

Creating and signing a trust does not by itself transfer your assets into it. "Funding" means retitling accounts, recording deeds, and updating beneficiary designations so that the trust actually controls the assets you intend it to control. An unfunded trust may exist on paper without controlling any of your property.

Where assistance with funding is offered, it is administrative and educational help with the process — explaining the steps, helping you organize paperwork, and keeping you on track. It is not legal advice, tax advice, or investment advice, and it does not include preparing or recording legal instruments on your behalf. Financial institutions, county recorders, and insurers set their own requirements and may refuse, delay, or condition a transfer for reasons outside our control. Some assets — certain retirement accounts, for example — generally should not be retitled into a trust, and moving them may have significant tax consequences. Consult a qualified attorney or tax advisor before transferring any asset.

12. No guarantee of legal outcome

We do not warrant or guarantee that any document you create through the Platform will be valid, enforceable, or effective for your purposes; that it will avoid probate, reduce or eliminate any tax, protect any asset from any creditor or claim, or be honored by any court, financial institution, insurer, or other third party; or that it will achieve any particular result. Outcomes depend on facts we do not control, on your own execution and funding, on third parties, and on law that varies by state and changes over time.

13. Your documents and the vault

Your documents and the information you enter remain yours. We store them using encryption and make them available in your account during your access period.

You may grant vault access to other people — a spouse, a successor trustee, an agent, a family member — and you may revoke that access at any time. You are responsible for whom you grant access to and for what they do with it. Anyone you authorize may be able to view and download the documents and information you have shared with them.

Download and keep your own copies. We are not a records-retention service, and we do not guarantee indefinite storage or continuous availability. If your access ends, we may retain, archive, or delete stored material in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

14. Intellectual property and license

The Platform, including its software, question flows, document templates, text, graphics, logos, and the PlanLegit name and marks, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform and to download, print, sign, and use the documents you generate for your own personal estate planning purposes. You may share your completed documents with your own advisors, family, and institutions as needed to carry out your plan.

You may not copy, resell, license, distribute, or commercially exploit the templates or any part of the Platform; use them to prepare documents for other people; scrape, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or template library; or remove any proprietary notice. You retain ownership of the personal information and content you submit, and you grant us a license to use it solely to operate the Platform and provide the service to you.

15. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Platform for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, concealment of assets, evasion of creditors, or defeating a legal obligation; impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, authority, or relationship to anyone named in your documents; interfere with, disrupt, probe, or overload the Platform or its security; access another user's account or data; upload malicious code; or use automated means to access the Platform without our written permission.

16. Third-party services

The Platform relies on and may link to third-party services — payment processors, scheduling and communication tools, a third-party software provider, document-assembly and hosting providers, analytics providers, and others. Their own terms and privacy practices govern your use of them. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, content, or conduct, or for any institution's decision about whether to accept your documents.

The third-party software provider may supply or control portions of the account portal, document-question workflow, template library, document generation, vault, hosting, security, and update tools. We may receive access to your account status, progress, documents, and support information as needed to operate PlanLegit, assist you, and administer Coordinator relationships. See the Privacy Policy for more detail about provider and Coordinator access.

17. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform, all documents generated through it, and all related support are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We specifically disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that content or templates are complete, accurate, or current with the law of your state; or that any defect will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

18. Limitation of liability and indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our officers, directors, employees, Coordinators, agents, licensors, or suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunity, or for any damages arising from an invalid, unenforceable, ineffective, improperly executed, or unfunded document, from a decision you make about your own plan, or from the act or omission of any third party — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Platform or these Terms will not exceed the total amount of fees you paid to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform, the information you provide, your documents, your decisions, your grant of access to any third party, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of any person — including any claim brought by a beneficiary, heir, family member, fiduciary, or creditor.

These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability and survive termination of your account. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some may not apply to you.

19. Dispute resolution, arbitration, and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court and to have a jury trial.

19.1 Informal resolution first

Before starting a formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at [email protected] with a written description of the dispute and to work with us in good faith for at least sixty (60) days to resolve it.

19.2 Binding arbitration

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by a nationally recognized arbitration provider under its consumer arbitration rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted in Yuma County, Arizona or, at your election, by telephone, videoconference, or on written submissions. The arbitrator, and not any court, has exclusive authority to resolve any dispute about the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, or formation of this arbitration agreement. The arbitrator's award may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.

19.3 Class-action and jury-trial waiver

You and we each waive any right to a jury trial and agree that claims may be brought only in an individual capacity — not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim — and only that claim — will be severed and brought in court, and the remainder of this section will remain in effect.

19.4 Exceptions and opt-out

Either party may bring a qualifying individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or to stop unauthorized access to the Platform. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] with your name, account email, and a clear statement that you decline arbitration, within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

19.5 Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and we consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Yuma County, Arizona.

19.6 Time limit

Any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it arises, to the extent permitted by applicable law, or it is permanently barred.

20. Electronic communications and e-signature consent

By using the Platform you consent to receive notices, disclosures, agreements, receipts, and other communications from us electronically — by email, through your account, or by text message to a number you provide — and you agree that electronic delivery satisfies any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.

You also consent to the use of electronic records and electronic signatures in connection with your relationship with us. This consent does not mean that an electronic signature is sufficient to execute your estate planning documents — most states require physical signatures, witnesses, and/or notarization for wills, trusts, and directives. See Section 10.

Message and data rates may apply to text messages. You may withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, replying STOP to a text, or emailing [email protected]. We may still send you transactional messages about your account.

21. Terms for Coordinators and professional users

If you access the Platform as a Legit Coordinator or other professional user, you additionally represent and agree that:

  • You will provide education and platform guidance only, within the limits described in Section 4, and you will not engage in the unauthorized practice of law;
  • You will not give legal advice, draft or interpret legal language for a client, recommend specific documents or provisions, or make any decision on a client's behalf;
  • You will make clear to every client that PlanLegit is not a law firm, that no attorney-client relationship exists, that the client represents themselves, and that any fee is an administrative fee for software access and related support and not a fee for legal services;
  • You may describe the template library as Attorney Approved Document Forms, and you may state that the forms are available in all 50 states; you will not describe PlanLegit as a law firm, say that a client's documents are guaranteed to be valid, or imply that an attorney represents the client through the Platform;
  • You will comply with all laws, regulations, and licensing requirements that apply to you, including advertising rules of any licensing body you are subject to, and you are solely responsible for your own communications, marketing, and conduct;
  • You will keep client information confidential and secure, and use it only to support the client's use of the Platform;
  • You will not misrepresent your role, credentials, or authority, or imply that you are an attorney.

We may suspend or terminate a Coordinator's access immediately for any breach of this Section. You agree to indemnify us for any claim arising from your conduct as a Coordinator, including any allegation of unauthorized practice of law.

22. Termination

You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, if your payment fails, or if we discontinue the Platform. Sections 3, 9 through 19, 21, and 24 survive termination. On termination, download your documents promptly; we may retain or delete data as described in our Privacy Policy.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide additional notice by email or through the Platform. Changes apply prospectively. Your continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Platform and close your account.

24. General provisions

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any order confirmation, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform, and supersede any prior understanding. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, fiduciary, or employment relationship between you and us. Headings are for convenience only. We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
